Back at it and yes, I’m sorry that it took so goddamn long it took to post. Not to make excuses but we moved and I started a new job and –blah, blah, blah. Trucking along, I promise I’ll be better about posting every Friday. The good news is we never quit making content so like a bad case of constipation, we are backed up. Issue 10 is DONE. Issue 11 is scripted, boarded, Dan is half way through the issue on pencils and I have four pages inked. Looking ahead the second trade will be ready around Sept and the next five issues (The Giallo/Noir arc) has been scripted out. I hope to see some of you at Quad Con this Sunday at Tebala in Rockford so until then, check out a final page from Andersonville
Hope you all have been well provisioned and are looking forward to some hot weather. I havent been great on updates and social media but I promise that we have been working around the clock to get you the absolute best issue yet by September. Issue 10 is a masterpiece, I know that sounds concieted but it is (fuck you). I have poured everyting I learned in the last 6 years into this puppy so hopefully you can tell.
And now for the sad news. All of you know that we are animal nuts here at the WWW and hopefully you are too. Sadly a member of our brood needed the long nap so I’m dedicating this issue to the late, great Cupcake Haun. Death is the punctuation on life and without death life would have no meaning and blah blah blah but seriously, what a fucking drag. I get why people bury their peeps in the pet cemetery, i really do.
Thanks to all the people who spent a Saturday morning with me at the Mt Morris library. You all made some terrfici covers and I really think a few of you could make comics as a living (no bullshit). Sorry to all who turned up to the Lake County Pop Con, what a drag. If I knew it was a flea market I never would have signed up. It was cool to see her though-
Anyways, back to our sorrid little rag. Danny got to come up north just in time for 8 inches of snow last month and in one night we smoked a pack of cigarettes and paneled out issue 11 – The Season of the Witch. We love this story and I promise that issue 10 and 11 are going to blow your goddamn socks off. Here is our parade of thumbnails all splayed out so we can visualize the flow of the whole book. Why two sets? My you are an observant fan…we do it this way to maximize creativity on the page. He does a whole book of thumbnails and I do the whole book and then we lay them side by side in sequence and compare which elements best tell the story. We mix and match until the cocktail is 180 proof. It worked for Walt Simonson and I’ll leave it at that.
That about wraps it up. Sorry I took a couple of weeks off but I’ll be more steady this summer. Last note, issue 10 is pulling out all of the stops and will have a very limited glow in the dark cover. I anticipate about 50 of these so get them early or reserve your copy by mailing or sending me an image of your “Ace in the Hole”
Big thanks to all the boys and girls who came out and spent some time with us. We had our best C2E2 ever and it was all because of you. We are blessed with the best fans ever! We saw some old friends and met some new ones so thanks again from the bottom of our hearts. We will be in Davenport tomorrow for Mighty Con so drop by if your from or around the Quad Cities on Sat or Sun.
So we did move and are finally settling in a bit, still kind of up in the air but the dust is settling a bit. We have had a couple of cons in the past few weeks, Rockford and Madison and both were really good. Good to see some new faces and connect with a few returning fans (I’m talking about you Mary) Thanks for all the support. I’m going to be turning the weekly posts over to Instagram as there has been a ton of chatter asking us to be followed that way so the blog will only be updated monthly and used to chronicle comic process. I’ll post the address in the footer of the site. Hope you can follow and give us good feedback. Thanks again
Thanks to all who made it out to Rockford last weekend. This was our second home town show and easily the best con I have ever attended. We sold out of a bunch of comics and met a ton of really cool people. Thanks to Jay Parada for stepping up and helping me keep up with the pace. See you all really soon-
Finally, it’s taken another long year but we are quickly buttoning up some last minute details. I did this mini epilogue myself so you may notice a little bit of a different style. I guess I’m just not as good as Dan and Tim
