The last time I ever make that joke, I promise.

I’m really digging into what made Al Williamson so great, a deft hand at inking.

And if you want a comprehensive lesson on how some of the great artists cultivated theirs styles, check out this site:
Welcome back folks, glad to be back on familiar ground. The last three months have been a roller coaster to say the least. The children’s book I started made some decent progress but is still a long way from being done. I do have a few pages really close to the final render if anyone is interested.
On to some weirder stuff, I picked back up where I left off in June with issue 8, page 9. It took me a day or two to start seeing the inks the way they needed to be but after a week I’m really happy with how the blacks are forming. All of the pages are penciled so hopefully by Jan 1 they will all have ink and about half should have color –
I’ll be posting every Friday so stay tuned for more updates
It’s been a few weeks since we posted, that’s been my fault. I was recently granted a sabbatical and most of my time and energy has been going into writing and illustrating a children’s book. Once it’s done, i’ll link to some images. I probably wont be making much headway on this issue till Oct 1 and then I’ll really kick into high gear to try and get it all inked and lettered by Jan 1. That should leave Tim enough time to color it before C2E2. Here is what he sent me last week for page 4

Thanks for all of you that came through the south side last weekend. It was great to meet you all and I hope to check out that Pirate weekend in Wisconsin in August.
I’m going to try something new and let all of you see the next issue in it’s most raw form, the thumbnail phase. Since Dan is in FL now, we are working remotely and this is the first time we have had to digitize our thumbnails. I thought I would share with you what these look like at the early blocking phase. If you see anything that would make the story better, drop us a line.

And man was it hot! Here is some stuff in the pipeline. I will be at Chicago Land Comic-Con on July 15-16. I hope to see you all there

I’m signing up for a few more cons later today so if you want to hang out, check back here next week for a full run down of upcoming dates. Here is a look at page 8 before the digital ink gets applied
Here are the almost final inks on page 7. I’m not sure where Danny got the idea to split the page up into pie slices but I do know that he likes doing that as evidence in the splash spread in issue 5

I do think that there must have been some influence by Ditkos cover of Amazing Spider-Man 31

It was a convention I used expressly for one of my R&B covers

Which brings us to the page itself.
